my friend andy washes his hair with conditioner, he’s got crazy curls, i love them, but he said that there’s something in regular shampoo that doesn’t act right with curly hair.

Hey hottie!

Styling suggestion (which is my own fave when my hair gets longer): Bobby pins. Lots of them. Sometimes just one or two holding back a lock or two from the temple, sometimes random clumps pinned down till it’s all up, depending on the hair day and what I want it to do.

I miss my long hair SO bad, I will keep kicking myself for ever cutting it so damn short in it’s post-preggo wtf phase, I can’t wait for my own long curlies to come back!!

Oh, man MB…I feel you. I have thin hair, but a ton of it. It’s somewhere between curly and straight and cannot be air dried. I can generally blow-dry it straight in the winter if I use a straightening product, but in the summer I break out the scrunchy mousse and let it go curly. I curl sections of hair around my fingers after the product is applied, air dry, scrunch and fluff. It mostly works…but isn’t my favorite hair-do. I’m trying to grow it out, too, and hope the weight will eventually straighten out the curls naturally!

Man, I miss the days when I could stick my mop in a ponytail and forget about it. Oh, second grade. How I long for you!

Know what you’re going through. When I moved, I asked everyone I saw who looked like they had hair like mine that looked good on them — including strangers waiting for the train — who cut their hair. Then I went to them until I found someone I liked. A good cut is EVERYTHING! And, finding someone who knows how to cut curly/wavy hair is not easy, but so worth the effort. Good luck!

Have them thin it out, a LOT. My hair sounds a lot like yours—incredibly thick, wavy in some spots but not in others so it gets all frizzy if I let it air-dry. My current haircut is kind of a bob between the shoulder and chin, but layered on the sides and up high in the back, and texturized like crazy. I’ll email you a couple of pictures because I’m not doing a very good job describing it. Anyway, it ends up kind of wavy and flippy and, on most days, pretty cute. My stylist cuts it, dries my hair, and then spends about fifteen minutes texturizing it and thinning it. If she doesn’t do that, it gets unbearably heavy and mushroom-y. Good luck!
