MommyCoddle: how to save money on groceries

Posted on | June 16, 2009 6 Comments | e-mail | print

Last week, the gas man came by and shut off our gas for more than 24 hours because he detected a leak in the line outside our house. We had to call in a plumber to drill into the walkway and the basement wall to fix the leak and repair the pipe. This cost half a month’s salary.

SO, needless to say we are trying to cut expenses elsewhere. There’s not much left to cut, honestly, but it seems we could always take a few bites out of the grocery budget.

I found these tips today: MommyCoddle: how to save money on groceries. I got to her blog via Wise Craft. Some useful stuff there; check it out.

Oh, man MJ! I feel for you. We’ve gone through this with taxes and emergency repairs all in one month…and with a 15 year old eating like crazy, it is hard stuff. Thanks for the link. I try to do a lot of this, but I know I could always improve. Best of luck…my thoughts are with you this month as you try to stretch the budget.

Glad everyone is safe. That expense is a bummer.

Thanks. God only knows how long that leak has been going on — it’s between the city line an the house, and the contractor does spot checks every two years. So it could have been going on for two years.

Shit you not, I had a moment of terror a few days ago when I imagined these kids as teenagers, and the sheer quantity of food they will consume

The Beavis is at orchestra camp for the week, and then at his dad’s for a week. In July he’ll be gone for 2 weeks with dad. Is it wrong to be happy that I’ll be saving huge sums of cash on food during the weeks he’s off visiting my ex?
