There’s no accounting for taste

We had stir-fry for dinner today. Ain’t gonna lie, it was frozen. Stouffer brand. Unzip the bag and pour it in a pot and call it dinner.

Personally, if it were up to me, we’d be having Cap’n Crunch every night of the week. I’m six years old that way. Iain’s the one insists on having “meat” and “vegetables” and other grownup stuff.

Owen, on the other hand, seems to prefer a nice chilled slab of Land ‘O’ Lakes’ finest.

Yes, butter. By the pat. We had it out because every meal seems to call for a little hunk of Italian from the bakery down the way, and I was buttering it la la la and he just Freaked Out. I’m talking freakout of the magnitude usually reserved for Elmo. A full-bodied freakout.

So I sliced off a sliver, put it on a piece of bread and handed it to him; he plucked it off and popped it in his mouth and held his hand out for more. And if you’da seen the big blue eyes this kid makes, you’da given him some too.

You might not have kept giving him pat after pat, like I did, but you know, I’ve been trying to fatten him up a touch anyhow.

Giggle, I am good with capn crunch myself. It has all sorts of nutrients! I saw so myself: on the box and the commercials and stuff

Butter rocks too. Joseph went through a period where he ate mass amounts of the stuff.

Seriously, that kid of yours is the very definiation of sweet and buttery. It is your duty to keep up the butter and sugar nutrients.

    Go forth and slather him.

Butter? By the pat? How do I get invited to dinner at your house?

I’ve heard that before from other people whose kids love butter - straight butter. More power to the kids - I feel guilty just buttering a piece of bread at a fancy restaurant. (Do I really need this butter? Nooooooooo.)

If it helps any, my sister LOVED butter as a kid and she’s brilliant.
