The long stem that most use to peel it is actually the bottom of the fruit, and the bananas grow UP from there. So the "bottom" where the monkeys peel it from... is actually the top. I know, I apologize for being one of those geeks who yelled "ooh!! ooh!! ooh!!" in class when we were all kids. But I couldn't resist.
