And you thought it was bad THEN

How pregnancy is like ninth grade:

  • Forehead once again breaking out
  • Body doing new and unpredictable things, and therefore must be covered up with giant plaid shirts and combat boots
  • Can [and usually do] go from hysterical high-pitched giggles to fits of sobbing in a matter of seconds
  • Want to don headphones and block out entire universe with Smashing Pumpkins
  • Convinced everyone is pointing and laughing
  • Racy dreams involving sitcom characters
  • Nine months of initiation [and occasional hazing] before officially becoming a member of group [upperclassmen or mothers, take your pick]
  • Spend A LOT of time reading and crafting to make up for the lack of social engagements
  • Think nobody understands me
  • Know, on an intellectual level, that it doesn’t last forever … but it sure feels like it.

    • Maybe your freshman year of high school was all roses and football games, but mine was awkward and generally unfulfilling. Thank God I had 10 years of relative normalcy before my hormones went buck-nuts again.

    Of course, neither ninth grade nor pregnancy is always as bad as I like to make them out to be, but then again I’ve always been a fan of hyperbole, exaggeration and fishing for sympathy. So shoot me.

      in a month or so things will settle out… and you will feel more yourself.. only a clumbsy version of yourself… who cant remember anything

      You have my sympathy. And moral support.

      I am totally proud of you for being a mom. I’m sure it can feel like a thankless job. But I want you to know that I don’t take you for granted. You’re doing a great thing.
      You deserve all the Cheezits you want and more.
